04 Peace of mind
Genuine peace means neither to be happy nor to be
unhappy, but always calm and stable, independent of circumstances.
During any given situation, have you ever observed
your mind? How your senses are enhanced? Emotions heightened? We often get very
easily carried away by our emotions and our awareness of the present moment is
lost. Then thought arises, why did this happen to me? What have I done? and so
on, instead of focusing on the action to be taken. This continuous bombardment
of thoughts reduces our ability to think clearly and we often end up reacting
to the situation, instead of responding.
Fear, anger, guilt, envy, remorse, pride and greed
are a few emotions that keep the mind churning and boiling without letting
peace in.
Peace comes with awareness, acceptance, surrender,
compassion, understanding, discipline, control, detachment, moderation,
balance, virtue, healing, forgiveness, trust and faith. They are the
prerequisites that bring peace into your life permanently and allow you to
experience it under all circumstances.
